Getting Started with Arugula Seeds

Arugula is one of the easiest greens to grow from seed, making it perfect for both beginners and experienced gardeners. This peppery leafy green thrives in cool weather and can be ready to harvest in just three to four weeks. Whether you're planting in a garden bed, raised bed, or container, arugula is forgiving and rewarding.

Choosing the Right Location

Arugula performs best in a spot that receives at least four to six hours of sunlight daily. In warmer climates, afternoon shade helps prevent the plant from bolting too quickly. The plant prefers cool temperatures, ideally between 50 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit, so spring and fall are ideal growing seasons in most regions.

Preparing Your Soil

Harvesting Your Arugula

For the most tender, mild flavor, harvest in the morning and use leaves promptly. If left unharvested, arugula will eventually bolt and flower, though the flowers are also edible.
